Absolutely right when the tank is filled with CO2 it will bring the ph down but when the Hydrogen is replaced by the Oxygen that's what happens 😁😁for 10 minutes a day I keep freezing my family 😋😋

i am in the midst of getting a HRV for my house for the same reason.... skimmer is plumbed for outside air... but calcium reactor, an active golden retreiver, 3 kids and a wife in a 1800 square foot house... lol

sounds like too much hot air, eh? On a serious note, I can't remember the last time I tested pH, without an apex isn't a little more manual of a process. I can't remember his name but there was an especially outspoken and occasionally obnoxious guy on the original forum that maintained that pH wasn't important, or at least that monitoring pH wasn't important because without intervention it will stay within an acceptable range. That's always been my approach/opinion but maybe I need to revisit.

Keeping an Higher PH is always good, and it was mentioned year ago,
A few years ago Tony and I went to see Michael Paletta in Mississauga, and he did explain why is good to keep above 8:00,

I’ve done things like plumb a fresh air line to my skimmer and switch to kalk to help out my numbers a bit. I stop short of dosing PH buffers and wanted it to happen as naturally as possible. My tank looks the most healthy it ever has right now and believe my PH reflects that

I was reading either randy Holmes or brs video, Apparently after a ph of 8.2 magic happens and calcification is magnified by 2

That's correct,,
Potential of Hydrogen
Or as we know PH
The higher the the number of hydrogen the lower is the PH,
And the PH is an exponential of x10
so from 8.1 to 8.3 the value is elevated x10x10... so in few words it's.. Huge

i wish i could get up there, but using calcium reactor has some disadvantages.... i am currently hitting 8.1 during the day... after modifying my calcium reactor.... adding a 3rd chamber with more media to burn off more co2 and raise ph of effluient.

Also have a basket with carbon inside the sump where the effluent will drip

I have been thinkering about a sodium hydroxide Reactor for the skimmer, see if that plan is doable and affordable 😁

I am going to build a CO2 scrubber for my skimmer as I fight with ph all day because of my calcium reactor and my calcium demand
