Hello everyone. Hard summer over here for most of my sps attempts.
i lost many and I did have a big Alk swing that I associated all my troubles to.
i was chatting with a fellow reefer today who suggested that I may have more going on. Because many / most of my acros who died started at the base, he was suggesting acro eating flatworms.
anyone here had any experience with them? Could you share anything? I don’t see any but I do understand they’re hard to spot.
would they kill most sps starting at the base of a frag? Would a big Alk swing look the same? Thank you.

If you have aefw it’s easiest to spot eggs. When a sps dies pull it out and examine the dead skeleton. If you see small brown egg sacks then most likely u have aefw

In your experience do they “ spare “ any acro? The acro vileda seems to be untouched. I still have that colony I got from you and it’s looking good

Nitrates? Phosphates?
How are your inverts?
My clam is doing great so are everyone else ( reef lobster, shrimps, crabs abs snails )
Argh nutrients are stupid
Phosphate 0.08
Nitrate 50.00

i had a huge Alk swing last month so I assumed that’s what it was. But while researching I saw some info that it would usually burn tips and not burn from the bottom up.

I had the same issue about 5 months ago, my Nitrates got out of control and low Pho’s. I couldn’t do water changes as would drop Pos again so I tried using Orca Nitra-Guard Titanium Bio Cubes.

I started slow and every few weeks kept adding a couple more cubes till I got the Nitrates down. A slow process but no losses and great results.

It also be STN ( slow tissue necrosis)
Usually is the base to go First, if you can do a dip treatment to treat the infected coral,
During any kind of swing may also affect Potassium,

Well, it’s not the Alk swing so maybe it is the nitrates. I tried a few cheap frags to test it and with my alk stating stable, I’m still loosing them. Luke I’ll reach out to try biocubes.
